Edward Simon is a seasoned and talented jazz pianist, with several CD's to his credit. Leonardo Granados is a vocalist and percussionist. Together, they, along with a stellar group of musicians, are embarking on what is sure to be a very exciting and stimulating project for themselves and their fans; an album of boleros. Edward grew up playing boleros, accompanying Leonardo when they were both young. It's a music that's near and dear to both musicians and they envision this project as a gift or form of payback to two very special people in their lives; Edward's father and Leonardo's mother. They hope to attract bolero lovers of all ages, as well as those listeners who are attracted to the jazz aesthetic, as the musicians hope to successfully marry these two musical styles into a satisfying whole. A vocal interactive will allow participants to actively involve themselves in this project. The musicians will provide the music, as well as the lyrics for the participants to sing. This is an interactive that will hopefully involve kids and their parents, and get the generations talking to each other about what the meaning of the bolero is. To accompany this Ed and Leo will also include a short lecture, available by download, that explains what a bolero is and gives a short history of this art form. For the high-level participants, the recorded boleros may be individually dedicated to them as a thank you for helping fund the project.
